Wow I suck at blogging!

I really do suck at blogging. I go to other peoples pages and I see all these blogs posted. Some post every few days, some post daily, others post multiple times a day. Me? I post like one blog every other week or so. Sometimes when I am feeling particulary bold I will post two in a whole day...and then nothing for a few weeks.

Am I really that boring or am I just anti-social or am I just not creative enough? I don't know. It's not like I don't have the time. I actually do! I just can't think of anything interesting to post.

I have written several blogs that I just don't post because I think they are dull or bland or I just don't like them. I want my blog posts to be interesting. I don't want to bore my readers with uninteresting posts. So I just don't post as often as I would like to.

I don't have a lot of followers and I would like to have more. I do really appreciate all of you who do take the time to read blogs from my little corner of the world. To all of you, I say thank you!

I don't want this post to sound all mopey or whiny. I am not trying to sound that way, so sorry if it does.

On a plus note I have two more weeks in this semester before the Christmas Break. All sad now. No more Sex Class! I am bringing pizza for our little pizza party on the last day of that class, so that will be fun...PARTY! The next semester registration starts in a few days, so I will have to jump on that very soon. I am going to step it up again and try to take more classes so that way I will be that much closer to my Nursing degree. I am now unemployed so that way I will have more time to devote to my schooling.

I do have other interesting news but that will be a long post for another day. Until then. Ta-Ta!

I am trying to be a good little house-boy

So over the course of the week, I have managed to vacuum, clean the kitchen 5 times(that is what I hate about Thanksgiving...the clean-up before and after and again and again until there is no turkey left), cleaning the kitty litter, putting things away, and other little odds and ends. Our plan for the last week has to put up the Christmas lights. Not turn them on yet but just have them up. Well it has been snowing for the last few weeks here. This past week it has been an ice cube outside so neither me nor Lorin has had the motivation to do our outdoor work.

So today is the day. Lorin has a choir performance just down the street and who knows when it will be done. I am feeling very productive today. I have managed to clean the kitchen again and give the dogs a well needed bath. Archie our sheltie takes over an hour and a half just to clean and dry him alone(he is a hairy dog so that's why). Barty not so long.

My next project is to get started on the lights. I have to be a little more careful because of all the ice and snow. Last year we didn't get to put up the decorations for Christmas for the exact same reason. Not this year. We weren't the only ones not to decorate. There was like two houses on our block that decorated last year and that is because they put up their lights right after Halloween. Well this year I am bound and determined to put up the lights. Rain, sleet, hail, or snow will stop me this year. I Love decorating for Christmas. I am a festive kind of person. I will listen to Christmas music, decorate the house, and I love having a REAL tree to decorate. Having a real tree is just Christmasy to me. I Love the smell. I am an insomniac so I wonder around the house late at night. When the tree is all decked out I can see! So I won't trip over the dog toys in the dark. Well that's all from my little corner of the world. I hope everybody is doing great! Bye

Happy Turkey Day!

Well it's now Thanksgiving Day here in the USA. So I am doing my usual up all night cook-a-thon! For like...3 people! Me, Lorin, and Erin(Lorin's little sis) are all here to have Thanksgiving tommorrow or later today seeing as how it is 1:15am.

So here is what I do. I spend all night the night before prepping everything for the big day. I cook some things like hard-boiled eggs(for the deviled eggs), I get the potatoes peeled and cut(mashed potatoes), I soak the turkey in juices overnight, I chop up whatever vegetables that need to be, so that wait the cooking for turkey day doesn't take as long! The other stuff really has no need to be prepped, most of it is usually very easy and does not require too much special attention. So that is what I will be doing for the next few hours. Then off to bed only to get up in the morning to get my cookin' on!

So have a Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Rods and Cones!

Lorin and I are laying in bed talking and I tell her about this spot in my peripheral vision that just won't go away. Its been there for months now. I really don't notice it until I am just zoning out and am looking at something like a white painted wall or something light in color. Anyways, we are laying there going over what it may or may not be. When Lorin mentions that maybe one of your rods in your eye has gone out. Well that started both of us thinking back to Blue Man Group.

Ok. So Lorin and I used to work at Blue Man Group at the Venetian down in Las Vegas.

Actually that's where we met and fell in Love. So this place will always be something we take to heart. There were times we Loved working there and then there were times when we hated being there. All in all, I look back more on the good of being there and the fun of working for Blue Man Group. I remember watching the show(almost every night...and sometimes twice a night) and being in awe even though I had seen the show like a bizzillion times already. Almost everybody who worked there had a favorite part of the show. It didn't matter how many times you had seen it, it just never got old. My favorite part of the show was called "Rods and Cones".

If you have never seen Blue Man Group, then I suggest you go and see it for yourself. Don't bother asking anyone who has seen the show or has ever worked or currently work there, what the show is all about. Trust me...its damn near impossible to describe what its about. You will hear about certain parts of the show or what people like etc...but a description...no! Its a lot of fun if you have never seen the show. The show is also something you can watch multiple times. Trust me! I watched it over and over, 6 to 7 days a week, for over 3 years.

I know Lorin hated working there sometimes. I really didn't hate working there up until the last few months I was there. Sometimes I miss working there(I think Lorin secretly does too) so, every now and then, I will watch some vids or listen to some of the music they play.

And now I give you my favorite part of the show. Its called Rods and Cones. It brings back memories to me...
How bout you Lorin?

In case they feel like sueing me for copying pictures. I do not own anything! These pictures are the property of BMPI
Thank you!

Cowboys & Aliens!!!!

Ok! Now earlier this week I saw a bizarre title for a movie that will be coming soon. Cowboys and Aliens! What...the...hell! I have to say that the title surely attracted me to watch the movie trailer. There are just some movie titles like "Werewolf Women of the SS" or "Amazon Women on the Moon" or "Billy the Kid Versus Dracula" or "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" or my personal favorite "Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return of the Revenge of the Terror of the Attack of the Evil, Mutant, Alien, Flesh Eating, Hellbound, Crawling, Zombified, Living Dead" (part 2and part 3...seriously? There is more than one with this ridiculous title?) or whatever cheesy titles come your way. So like I said, some movies just have a strange title that make you say out loud...WHAT!?!?!?
I present to you the trailer Cowboys and Aliens

This could be cool! I mean it has Daniel Craig(the newest James Bond guy), Olivia Wilde(uber hottie from House m.d.), and Harrison Ford(no description necessary). It looks interesting. So knowing me, I will probably go to see this flick!

And for those of you who think I am full of B.S. in those weird-ass titles listed above or are just like me saying "there are really movie titles like this?" With an exception to one, these are all real movies. Here you go:

Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return of the Revenge of the Terror of the Attack of the Evil, Mutant, Alien, Flesh Eating, Hellbound, Crawling, Zombified, Living Dead Part 2

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

Amazon Women on the Moon

Billy the Kid vs Dracula

Werewolf Women of the SS(not a real movie by the way...it was on the Grindhouse movie with fake trailers.)

Three-day weekend

Lorin and I have a 3-day weekend together. That has not happened in quite a while. I don't have work and my classes are in the beginning of the week. Lorin has a furlough day today. So its just us all weekend. We started it off right. We haven't made breakfast(or in our case brunch) together in a while. So, I had a wild hair up my ass to do just that.

We are planning to go see the new Harry Potter flick today or tommorrow or Sunday. So that will be fun. My mom went to the midnight showing last night and said it was great. Ok! Well I thought it might be.

We did have plans to go to the shooting range today, but it is just so windy outside that that plan is a bust. I don't think we will be able to go any other time this weekend, because the forecast says there is a storm coming. There is supposed to be 14 inches of snowfall for this weekend. Thus the start of the winter here in Northern Nevada. So we might still go shooting if it doesn't snow, but the outlook is not so good!

As for other things planned for the weekend. Turkey day(Thanksgiving) shopping is on the list. A whole lot of relaxing and lounging around the house is on our agenda this weekend. We need some R&R time. I have already winterized my truck so thank goodness I don't have to worry bout that. I think I would go nuts if my 4 wheel drive and my winter windshield wipers didn't work!

Well that's about all from Gary and Lorin land!

Snowing!

It is snowing here in Northern Nevada. Lorin and I got up this morning and looked outside and just said "holy shit"! Well its not unusual for here to snow in the fall. Last year it snowed in October. It gives me a good feeling that I am gonna have me white Christmas again this year. I love it when it snows at Christmas time so I hope the snow is here to stay. However, the weather here is rather odd a lot of times. Because sometimes, like earlier this year, it will snow in May! May...really? Isn't usually shorts wearing, pull out your summer clothes, turn off the heater, in late spring? Not here! So I shouldn't be surprised by the snow. But I am!

Internet..down again!

So for the past two days our internet has been down. It will be fixed tommorrow, but it is just a pain in the neck to have to wait.

We have only had this internet service provider for a few weeks, so I do expect there to be some bugs to be worked out. I will say, when it is working it is soo much better than who we had before. The speed is good and I don't have to keep unplugging and plugging back in the modem. Such a relief! The company did a diagnostic from their office but it appears to be a problem that needs to be fixed at our house. OK...pain in the ass but still better than what we had!

The only reason I am able to blog is because in my "man cave" also known as...our garage, I am able to get a signal from one of our neighbors wireless connection. So I am temporarily stealing internet service. I discovered this connection from the many times our previous internet providers services would go down for days and sometimes weeks at a time, for no reason at all. It is sort of my back-up internet service. Its not a very strong signal and I do have to occasionally repair the connection, but eh...it'll do!

Hello and sorry

Hello to all those who read my little blog. I am sorry I haven't posted much. I have been pretty busy. Mostly with school stuff. Plus I am just kinda boring.

I think that my mom is going to be moving here to Nevada soonish. She currently lives in Louisiana where I am from. I think she has got that moving bug up her ass again. You see, my mom has always been a bit of a gypsy. When I was younger we were always moving somewhere new. I have lived all over the US. Not because of a job or anthing interesting other than the fact my mom is kinda crazy. She doesn't really like staying in one place for too long. You can see that from constant moving...
I HATE MOVING!

My idea is to move to one place...stay there...and just travel, always having a homebase to go back to. Not my mom! I was born and lived all over North Carolina. In my youth I have lived in different areas all over these states: Florida, Maryland, Texas, Virginia, Idaho, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Washington D.C.(I know its not really as state)! I have been to almost all of the 50 states! I claim Louisiana as where I am from, because thats where we lived the longest. Back in the day, right before I started High School, I made a demand that I would go to the same school for all four years. Well, I did get what I asked for. However, I should have said that we won't move in those four years. We did three times. All in the same area but three times, none the less! Well, my mom has been back in Louisiana for around 5 years I think(I can never keep up) and she has been telling me that she was looking at places in North Carolina (where my little brother currently resides) to move to again.

After a few of our chats recently my mom has changed her mind...she is making plans to move here to Nevada. I think its great. My mom is a little batty though! I love her to death but she always has been! Now here is the amusing part. I...am...not...my mom's...favorite! She loves me very much and we have great chats and get along wonderfully. My mom just dotes on my little brother. I have always wanted my mom's attention but never completely had it. My brother on the other hand, has always had it. I have had to live in the shadow of my little brother for as long as I can remember. I didn't mind all that much, because I myself adore my brother too! I just wanted the same attention he got. It was a mild jealousy, not at all destructive jealousy in any way, but I just wanted what he had!

Now I know this sounds like I am bitching that I never got enough attention when I was a kid. Trust me, it's not! I came to accept it long ago, that my brother was the favorite of both my parents. He absolutely hates being the favorite and would trade places with me in a heartbeat! My brother and I are total opposites as well. We get along but we are just different people. He is uptight, serious, introverted, little to no sense of humor, SUPER GENIUS, SUPER TALENTED, tall, stoic, very set in his ways kind of guy. I, on the other hand, am fun, funny, funniest, cheerful, chatty, average intellect, friendly, extroverted, short, open-minded kind of guy. I am also the better looking one! Not being conceited...just truthful. My mom well never admit that my bro is her favorite. She says "I don't play favorites...I love you both equally!" I know that! But a lot of parents do play favorites whether they realize it or not!

So back to my mom moving here. I think it would be great. I have not seen my mom now in over 8 years. I know that is a looooong time to go without seeing your mother. But I have my reasons.
One: The last time I saw my mom or brother was when my ex-wife and I got married over eight years ago. I haven't seen my dad in over 10 years(we don't get along very well anyways). Well I don't talk about my ex-wife very often but I will just say that when we were married I was kept on a tight leash. I wasn't allowed to have friends or money and I had to give it all to her. Not because I had proven to be bad with either but more that she was very insecure and possessive! I was not allowed to go visit my mom or brother or dad or anybody else. If I wanted to see them they could come to us 2500 + miles away. If they were to come they couldn't stay in our house(because our guest room was reserved for her family only), so they would have to rent a hotel room and would have designated visiting hours(since I was apparently a prisoner). Can you see some of the reasons why I did not stay with this woman?
Two: After my ex-wife and I went our separate ways I just never seemed to have enough money or time to go and visit anyone. And of course everybody else was broke, so they couldn't visit me either.

The idea of my mom living near me is exciting...and frightening at the same time. My mom loves Lorin to death, even though they have never met. They have chatted on the phone or internet and seem to like each other just fine. My mom and I get along...well...because we are very similar! My brother merely tolerates my dad and vice versa because they are very similar! Neither dad nor my bro really tolerate me or my mom because we are total opposites. Mom and I love my dad and little bro very much and get confused when they don't like us! You see...my mom and I are nuts! I am just a lighter version of my mom and my brother is a lighter version of my dad! That is the insanity of my family. I know its not as bad as others and I don't claim it to be. All in all, I would say that we are strangely normal!

So I guess we will see what happens here in the next few months.
The end!
