Santa came early!

Well in case you didn't read it on Lorin's blog, this year Lorin and I are low on the funds for Christmas. All our bills are good, but that left us with nothing to spend on presents for each other. So we didn't get anything for each other for the holiday. Hell...we have been so busy this holiday season, we barely decorated the Christmas tree. Somehow I think Santa knew that we didn't have any presents under our tree, so apparently last, he left some presents for Lorin under our tree. None for me, because I have been such a naughty boy this year! What is up with Santa coming a day early this year? I dunno! Oh well, there are finally presents under our tree so I will say...YIPPPEEEE!

Note to Lorin, since she is going to read this: Don't get mad at me! Santa left them just for you because you have been such a good girl this year. Sorry I couldn't get any presents for you. But you have all of my Love and I have all of yours and that's enough for me!

Have a Happy Holiday

Well since I have nothing of substance to post at the moment. I will just wish everyone Happy Holidays! I was being P.C. there. Since I am a christian, I will also say to those of you who celebrate Christmas. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Cartoons from the 80's and 90's...that "I watched"!

When it came to cartoons, I was all over it! I loved them. When I was a teenager, people would look at me and go...but aren't you too old to watch cartoons? NOPE! There is no age limit on cartoon watching! Although I will say that cartoons today...well...they are really lacking of substance. I just cannot understand what children see in them. I know that makes me sound really old. But the age of great cartoons has sadly passed. This is not just an opinion...it's fact!

Many of the BIG blockbuster movies in the past several years have been taken from cartoons and from comic books that many people had enjoyed as kids. Hollywood has taken those much loved cartoons and turned them into live action movies. Some have been great...and some not soo much!

Just so you know what I am talking about. I am posting the opening intro for cartoons that I liked that started in the 80's and went into the 90's and some that were just in the 90's. Since I have mentioned cartoons from just the 80's in a previous post, those will not be posted in this one. Oh yea and since some of my audience has made mention of "great kids shows" from the 80's and early 90's that were not included in my previous post. I will just mention a few that I watched as a kid and I absolutely loved them: Fraggle Rock, Reading Rainbow(I can't believed they cancelled this recently), Double Dare, Saved by the Bell, Punky Brewster(yes its another girls show that I watched), Pee Wee's Playhouse(yea I know...you don't even have to say anything about this), Video Power(many don't remember this one, it was a kids game show where they played NES games...look it up), Kids Incorporated, Step by Step, Dinosaurs, Captain Power & The Soldiers of The Future, Boy Meets World, Full House, Alf, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers(don't judge me! I liked it because I thought Kimberly the pink ranger was hot), Small Wonder, Where in the World is Carmen San Diego, just to name a few! There were many more but I can't remember them all.

1)The Disney Line-up came on in the afternoons when I got home from school. The shows during this time would move around or sometimes stop air but here they are: Gummi Bears, TaleSpin, Duck Tales, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Bonkers and Gargoyles.

2)Tiny Toons
I used to love this. I watched it weekday afternoons. I was a big fan of Looney Tunes but it seemed like this was for the newer generation of kids.

3)Animaniacs
Gosh I loved this show. We bought the DVD box set and it was funny how much adult humor there was. I always wondered why there was stuff I didn't quite get when I watched as a kid. Now that I am older...I get it.

4)Bobby's World
Howie Mandel...with hair...and it's a mullet! He did the voice for Bobby as well as many other characters back in the day. Its funny how he used the same voice for Gizmo on the Gremlins, Bobby on Bobby's World, and Skeeter & Animal on the Muppet Babies. Nobody seemed to notice!

5)X-Men
This was a great show taken from the Marvel Comic world. Sorry there is no audio, copyright laws and stuff.

6)Captain Planet
He's our hero gonna take pollution down to zero!

7)The Tick
I didn't get to watch it very often. It's one of those shows that I liked and didn't all at the same time.

8)The Simpsons
I watched this for the very first time in December of 1989. It is still going on today, 21 years for a cartoon is quite a long time! Although I don't watch it anymore, I did love it when I was growing up.

9)King of the Hill
This I absolutely found hilarious. Mostly because I am from the deep South. I am Louisiana boy so this show taking place in Texas was very familiar to me. I get the humor and its actually pretty accurate for the deep South! Sorry more copyright issues to consider so its not the actually opening intro just the song.

10)Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Tomatoes are evil in case you didn't know it!

11)Widget the World Watcher
I used to watch this on my Saturday mornings.

That's all I can think of. I will say that I did not watch any of the MTV shows like: Beavis and Butthead, Ren and Stimpy, Daria, Liquid Television or Aeon Flux. Don't get me wrong I did see some episodes of them, but they were just not my cup of tea!

So I bid you farewell until next time. I think I will post about live action TV shows from the 80's and 90's that I liked, at some point!

The 80's cartoons were the best!

I was watching some clip this weekend about flashbacks from the 80's cartoons. It got me reminiscing about all the cartoons I watched as a kid. In my personal opinion, these were some of the best years for cartoons. No...really! I know people that are older than me that think so too. The older folks didn't watch them except with their kids and the parents really liked what they saw. One of the things that I loved most about my childhood cartoons, was that they always had good morals in all the shows that I watched. You could really get something constructive out of them.

I remember getting up early every saturday morning(at 6:00am) to watch some of my favorite shows. My mom would spend Saturday sleeping in after a long week of being an adult. Not me. Now I know this sounds like a bad way to be a kid, glued to the tv for several hours on a beautiful Saturday morning. I assure you that I did get my outside time, but only after my mom was up...at around 10:00am or so.

When we lived in Orlando, Florida and in Baltimore, Maryland I wasn't allowed to go outside at all without adult supervision because of the dangers of living in a rather large city. So parking my behind in front of the old "boob tube" was how I spent my weekend mornings. We didn't always live in a city but the rules were pretty much the similar. My mom had to know where I was and I couldn't leave without her permission. So being a obedient little lad, I managed to get my cartoon fix every Saturday.

So here are some of the cartoons I watched. I didn't watch all of these in one sitting of course. Different places played different shows and of course some shows went away after a while but you get the idea. Some I watched after I got home from school as well. The weekday afternoon cartoons rocked as well! For all of you youngsters, this is the kind of stuff us old people watched when we were kids. And for all you other old fogies like me, here is a trip down memory lane!

1)Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
This one started out as a Saturday Morning cartoon but later I watched it when I got home from school in the afternoons. My favorite turtle was Raphael(he wore red) because he was a smart aleck like me. This did carry well into the 90's but I figured what the hell!

(Because of copyright issues I cannot play the original opening theme video only the song...sorry!)

2)Bravestarr
This was something of a western/futuristic cartoon that I would watch on Saturday mornings.

3)Voltron
I think this was where they got the idea of the Power Rangers robot.

4)Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs
Its was very short lived but I will always remember this cartoon. This is what early Japanese anime looked like. Hmmm! I still watch old episodes on youtube.

5)GI Joe
Oh my GOD! Yea this is what I can blame for me always wanting to join the US Marine Corps. I wanted to be GI JOE when I was a kid so what did I do? Oh I enlisted! Well this was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. I never missed an episode. It came on every saturday morning and mom new she would not ever be able to pull me away from this show at any time! Snakeeyes was the best and my personal favorite. GI Joe PSA's were the best too!

And of course I loved the GI JOE intro for the cartoon movie they did back then also. The theme song was suped up and really catchy.

And by the way...where the hell was my super awesome JetPack when I joined? Grrr!

6)He-man
By the power of gray-skull...I have the POWER! Enough said!

7)She-ra
This was a spinoff of He-man. I liked both of them that is until I found out that He-man and She-ra kissed...and that was gross because they were brother and sister... dirty! There was kind of a theme with that back in the 80's. Luke and Leia(Star Wars...in case you didn't know) were also kissing siblings!

8)Silver Hawks
This was one of those cheesy cartoons that I would spend my Saturday mornings watching...gosh this was soooo 80's!

9)Transformers
I always wondered why Megatron would turn into a gun if he and everyone else was always carrying one. This was another of my Saturday morning cartoons.

10)Mask
Another cheesy 80's cartoons that I loved.

11)Bionic Six
Well I liked superheroes a lot and this was a family of them. They were kind of like the Fantastic Four but plus 2!

12)Jem
Yea...don't make fun of me! I know it was a girls cartoon but I watched it anyways!

13)Thundercats
Oh this one really brings back memories. When I was a little kid, I remember watching the pilot episode, and they were all naked! They really aired this for kids! I think later they covered up the nudity in the original episode but it was there...I swear!

14)The Real Ghostbusters
It was a fun cartoon that spawned from the movie. Gosh I miss being a kid sometimes!

15)The Smurfs
Saturday morning fun! And I still think smurfette was a tramp!

16)COPS(Central Organization of Police Specialists)
I used to watch this in the after school afternoons. It was a good show I don't know why it didn't last long.

17)Robotech
Some more early Japanese anime at it best!

There are a bunch of old cartoons that I watched as a little kid. Some were not my favorites but I would watch them anyways. Some I didn't list because this post is already taking so long. So here are some of the others: The Jetsons, Speed Racer, Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Dennis the Menace, Garfield and Friends, Mighty Mouse, Popples, Heathcliff, The Muppet Babies, Richie Rich, Go Bots, The Ewoks Adventures, Inspector Gadget, Tom and Jerry, The Snorks and so on...Some of these did air in the 70's too!
I may not have got them all, so sorry if I didn't, these were just the ones I could remember. With the exception to the Ninja Turtles I didn't list the cartoons that ran into the 90's. There is a whole line up of those as well. Mostly from Disney like Duck Tales, Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers, Talespin, etc...
Well that is all for now. Until then have a great weekend!

The cats out of the bag!

Well if you didn't read about it on the Love of my lifes blog at http://quiet-here.blogspot.com/ than here it is...we are havin a baby. Yea...I know...SURPRISE! There is something in the air...everybody we know is pregnant or has recently given birth...weird!

Apparently I have like super sperm or something. Over the last 4 years we have been extra careful that this didn't happen. Which in all reality I am surprised that it didn't happen sooner...with all of the sexy times we have...hmmm! We are like rabbits! I do come from a very fertile family and I do have 4 kids (some were while my ex-wife was on birth control) through a previous marriage. So I am not all that surprised! Like I said, I think I have super sperm.

A few weeks ago when we went to the doctor to get Lorin all checked out. The doctor said, "oh you have a very minimal chance for complications. This fetus is as healthy as I have ever seen"! To me that is a very good thing to hear.

We have known for about a month and a half now. But on the off chance that Lorin's mom reads our blogs we didn't say anything. We waited until she showed up here yesterday so Lorin could tell her in person. Lorin's mom,as we guessed not so thrilled! Fortunately, she didn't kill us or anything. Her mom is still very controlling when it comes to Lorin and her sisters. Even though Lorin is 27 years old she still treats her like she is a kid. You should have heard about the stink she put up when Lorin went to buy a new car 3 years ago...yikes! My mom, on the other hand, is bouncing up and down!

I mentioned in a previous post in November about my mom moving out here. I didn't mention why because it would have been obvious. Well this is the reason...we are having a baby! With me being in school for nursing, that kind of puts a damper on things seeing as the baby will probably be with me most of the time since Lorin works full-time at her grown-up job! I wouldn't really have much time for my schooling. So Lorin and I sat down one night to discuss things and we came to the conclusion that the only way it would work is if we had help. Lorin suggested my mom as a joke, I think. I said "oh that's a great idea"! So I called my mom, at midnight our time 2 am her time, I told her the news that we were having a little one and I had the intention of asking her for help. She was super dooper excited and before I had a chance to ask for her help she said, "with you in school and all, do you need me to move out there"? Huh! Yup! My mom is just cool like that! She was ready to move closer to my brother until this news and so she changes her plans and decides to come live with us.

So in January I am flying out to Louisiana to help her with the move and then my mom and I are driving back here. For the time being she will stay with us in our house. I dunno if she will stay with us afterwards, but I leave that all to the future.

So there you have it. I am gonna be a daddy again! Scared? Yes. It's always scary bring a new child into the world. I will say that I am not nearly as scared as Lorin is. She seems equally excited and scared at the same time. This is her first, my fifth, so she doesn't really know what to expect. So I whenever she has questions about baby stuff she asks me...since I am well practiced! I am not tooting my own horn but...I am rather good at the child raising.

Its funny. Lorin and I never planned to have children. We just simply said that if it ever happens than great we'll be good little parents(nerds totally...but good)! We Love each other so much. We usually make our friends nauseous. So in June we will be adding a new member to our little family. Thank you...the end!

What to do for today? And for the rest of the weekend?

Well the snow has mostly melted away. This week has been rather warm for December. There is an overcast and it is a little wet outside. Forecast calls for some light rain. What is there to do when the weather is so wishy washy?

So I don't know what to do. I want to go gun shooting out at the range. I don't know if Lorin is feeling up to it. I haven't been shooting for a while due to being broke over the last several months. I have managed to buy a bunch of ammunition, a little at a time, over the last few months. I just wanna go shooting. Let off some steam out at the range. That sort of thing.

We have to do some house cleaning. Lorin's mom is coming on Monday. So making the house all perdy and stuff is something we do need to do. I really don't want to clean today but we are going to clean before Monday.

A laundry party needs to be assembled! Since our washing machine crapped out on us a few months ago, we have had to do laundry at the Washoe house. It's fine. We just hang out there all day, lounging about, while we do laundry. Well in the Washoe Valley area, when it snows...it really snows! Therefore, even though I have a 4 wheel drive truck, we can't get down the dirt driveway to the house. We would have to walk about a hundred yards or so to the house carrying the laundry (about 4 baskets full) to the house. Not really up to doing that. So we are going to have to go to a laundry-mat this time around. Stupid washing machine going out! Arrrrgggghh!

Other than that, there really isn't much to do around here. Movies at the theatre look unpromising. We don't frequent bars, hell...we rarely drink. This little ole town does not have much recreational activities to do. I should study for finals week...but I really don't want to just yet. I know we can lounge around the house but I am not sure I really want to do that either. We could go window shopping...but that requires me getting off my ass to do that. I really don't know if I can control myself, since the Christmas shopping bug is in the air!

So this is my dilemma. What to do for the weekend? Thank you ba-bye now!
